Congratulations to Shirley Hendricks of Hartford, IL for touching our hearts with her philosophy about the joys of flowers! Here is our winning entry:
"Receiving flowers puts a smile on the recipients face. Sending flowers puts a smile in the sender's heart. Flowers send the message when words cannot."
Thank you Shirley and Congratulations again!

We want to thank everyone who entered the contest, there were so many outstanding entries, we want to share some of our favorites with you: "When I send flowers, the flowers speak for me whether its a big thank you, a happy birthday, a get well or an I'm sorry for your loss, flowers say You are very special to me." "It was our 10th anniversary, first time vacation with out the kids and we were in Vegas! We went to a beautiful restaurant with semi-private booths and in one of the booths was a huge arrangement of roses! I was thinking to myself, "How lucky someone is at that table!" When the maitre d' took us to our table, I was shocked! The roses where for me! I always said before not to waste money on flowers, but since then I've changed my mind!" "When I first started daiting my wife,I sent a surprise bouquet of star gazer lillies to her office (via Dicks Flowers) after date number 3. Afterall,I was smitten and I thought she would like them. The response I got was overwhelming! Little did I know, she had always dreamed of being surprised like that. During her first marriage she had recieved flowers only twice in 18 years! No surprise and from a convient store of all places! Saying that was a good move on my part would have certainly been an understatement! Little did she know, I always had this chivalrous idea of spoiling the woman I love with flowers everyday. So, from that point on, she gets to look at fresh flowers on ther table everyday. I call Dicks Flowers 3 or four times a month. First Mary, the Dot, then a host of others have helped me create a different world for her. As long as I am on this earth, she will get to wake up everyday and see flowers on her table. We've been together seven years now! She's kept every little card and every vase! Sometimes its a special occasion, sometimes it gets me out of the doghouse, sometimes its for no reason at all. She's been accused of being spoiled by me, Damn right! Thats what one does when one finds the love of their life. I suppose true love has something to do with it too. Why mess with a good thing." "Flowers are the perfect way to express emotions. They can be used to display a sence of love, friendship, sympathy, celebration or a combination of all emotions. Flowers represent very personal sentiments. To me, making the effort to pick out the perfect bouquet or arrangement of flowers to light up someones day or to let them know that you are thinking of them, is a wonderful display of affection. Words cannot discribe how wonderful it is to experience the reaction of the person when they receive the very special gift of flowers!" " On our first anniversary in 1952, my husband surprised me with a single long stem red rose. On our 2nd anniversary, he gave me two roses and each year there after he would add another. Every year I was as excited and thrilled as the first. Since this was the only occasion he would send me flowers, the neighbors knew it was our anniversary when the delivery truck pulled up. At 18 years, I received one yellow and eight red roses. He explained that the yellow represented ten years and the red represented one year. This tradition continued for thirty-seven wonderful years, until he passed away. I sill receive flowers at times, but none will ever smell as sweet or be as special as my anniversary roses."
